The Arkham Sessions, Ep. 51: “Off Balance”

The supervillain Vertigo steals a powerful, dangerous sonic weapon straight out of the hands of the Gotham City Police Department with his dizzying, vertigo-inducing superpower. Batman teams up with the mysterious Talia al Ghul for the first time to get the device back.  Of course, Batman isn’t just off-kilter because of Vertigo’s attacks– Talia’s intelligence, fighting skills, and amiability distract him as well. He thinks he’s found a friend and even a potential partner, but Talia has other plans in mind. On this episode of The Arkham Sessions, we discuss the impact of interpersonal betrayal, especially when it comes to someone with Batman’s history with romantic partners.  We also discuss “mental contamination” in respect to how we come to expect failure simply because we’ve experienced it enough.
