The Arkham Sessions, Ep. 76: “Bane”

After 75 episodes, we finally spotlight the iconic Batman villain, Bane! Most may know Bane from the film The Dark Knight Rises (2012) as a revolutionary with barely indiscernible language, and many of us are trying to forget the version told in Batman and Robin (1997) where he essentially plays a mindless, disposable thug. The truth is, Bane is not only exceptionally strong but also extremely intelligent and calculating, and is known as the only villain who has “broken the Bat.”

In this episode of The Arkham Sessions, we explore Bane’s motives and self-perceptions, considering that he was essentially raised in a prison and victimized as an experimental patient. Compared to other supervillains in Gotham City, Bane doesn’t appear to be self-loathing and self-destructive or carry his trauma with him. Speaking of villains, we also discuss whether Killer Croc, who is one of Bane’s first targets, has made any progress with social skills! Listen to the full episode below:
